Andrés Dorigo at Art Vancouver 2017
Laying Man, 24 1/2 x 39 1/3 inches, Acrylic on canvas, 1980

The average man and his introspective thoughts and doubts, as well as, his social-cultural relationships inform Andrés Dorigo’s work. He is equally interested in man’s relationship with nature - in particular the rivers, lagoons, and various flora and fauna of his native Argentina. His expressionist work has a surreal, dream-like quality, as he presents the interconnectedness in the elements of the human figure and nature. Born in Santa Fe, Argentina, Dorigo graduated as an architect and some years later with a subsequent degree, as a social psychologist. Dorigo developed his artistic practice firstly as an artisan through ceramics, drawings and paintings and later as an artist. As an acknowledged artist in his city, he teaches on issues related to the psychosocial aspect of the creative task.
