Themed gaming platforms vs classic style — preference?

One challenge with the sheer number of online entertainment sites available today is deciding whether to go for a heavily themed platform or one that sticks to a more classic style. Both approaches have their appeal, but they offer very different user experiences. I found an article discussing this very topic, mentioning that sites like

often represent a modern take on gaming platforms, focusing on streamlined user experiences and engaging gameplay without necessarily leaning into a strong overarching theme. It made me wonder what others prioritize. Do you lean towards platforms with immersive themes, or do you prefer a more straightforward, classic presentation for your digital recreation?

I generally prefer a more classic, uncluttered design. While themes can be fun initially, they sometimes make navigation more complicated or can become tiresome after a while. I just want to jump into the activities without too many distractions, so simplicity and directness usually win for me.
