Can waterproofing solve recurring basement odors?

My basement has had a persistent smell that comes and goes over time. I suspect it’s related to moisture, even though I don’t see visible water. It’s not strong, but definitely noticeable. I’ve tried basic cleaning and ventilation, but it hasn’t fully gone away. Now I’m wondering if waterproofing could actually fix the issue. It seems like the smell might be a symptom of something deeper. Has anyone solved this problem through waterproofing?

When it comes to protecting a home, it’s usually the hidden systems that matter most. Waterproofing, drainage, and foundation protection all work together behind the scenes. I’ve been looking into this more and basement waterproofing provides a good overview of how these elements are combined into a complete solution rather than separate fixes.
