About the event

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a floral Artist my goal is to create arrangements that not only showcase the beauty of flowers themselves, but also tell a story. The theme of my work focuses on Flowers in Abstraction painted primarily in Acrylic on Canvas. I use a variety of colors, texture, and forms in my work to create a dynamic and visually interesting composition. Through a process of layering and texture I create a symphony of movement. I combine these elements in unexpected and harmonious ways. Each of my creations is unique and stands alone. My objective in creating my paintings is in my desire to fulfill an emotional response, rather than focusing on the subject matter.

BIO

Lauren Morris was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where she studied and worked as a Graphic Designer. Several years later, a keen drive to widen her creative scope, coupled with a penchant for travel initiated a trip to America. It was there that she had the opportunity to continue working in Washington D.C while attending classes at the Corcoran School of Art, in Arlington, Virginia. She learnt to work and explore the many options of Fine Art. Following seven years of both academic and artistic accomplishments, she moved to Vancouver and was thrown into a world full of challenges: "My art and my senses merged. Making art for me was like exploring a new country for the first time". After completing continuing Education classes at Emily Carr in Vancouver she was immersed in a world of New Beginnings. Painting predominantly in acrylics and mixed media, she hopes to inspire thought and to evoke the viewers’ emotions through visual imagery”.
