How much Spanish I actually hear

So a couple months ago I got into this weird situation where I suddenly realized how much Spanish I actually hear around me every day. A new coworker joined our team and he mostly speaks Spanish with another colleague, and I kept catching small bits of conversation but couldn’t really follow. It bugged me more than I expected.

One thing that helped me was combining small daily lessons with short speaking practice. The reason I stuck with Promova longer than others is that the lessons felt more practical, like you’re learning phrases people actually use instead of textbook examples that no one says in real life. Another thing that surprised me was the AI practice feature. I usually study late at night when no one wants to practice with me, so I tried using the tutor tool on this website. It’s honestly not perfect, but it helped me get over that awkward feeling of trying to form sentences. You can mess up a lot and nothing bad happens, which weirdly makes you practice more. Something else I noticed is that the short lesson format works well if you’re busy. I used to think you needed hour-long study sessions, but doing 10 minutes in the morning and maybe another 10 later in the day actually sticks better in my head.
